Frustrating gearbox gremlins made life difficult for Steve Shepheard and John McCarthy on the Rally of Tasmania last weekend, as the GSA Wholesale Suspension Rally Team had its first ever hit out in an all tarmac event.
In 1995 George Shepheard, along with his business, George Shepheard Automotive Developments (GSAD), became re-involved in rallying when GMH asked him to build and manage three Holden Commodores for the 1995 Mobil-1 Round Australia Rally. GSAD chose three capable drivers in Peter Brock, Ed Ordynski and Ross Dunkerton to spearhead the campaign. The team went on to win that event with Ed Ordynski. It was while testing that Steve Shepheard had the opportunity to sit next to the drivers and find a love for rallying.
Since starting his rally career in 1996, Steve Shepheard has progressed through the ranks to become one of Australia’s fastest drivers, with many ARC top 10 places, outright stage wins, state level rally wins, an ARC 5th outright in 2007 s well as sixth in 2009, and two Queensland Rally Championships to his credit.

In 2008 Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) chose Steve to run the brand new model Evolution X, in the 2008/9 ARC, to coincide with their release of the car on the Australian domestic market. The move has seen some spectacular results, with much more to come in upcoming rallies.
